The Goa trip

Today i want to share my experiences with the Goa trip......which i helped to organise in my college.Actually I was not very interested in organising the Goa trip....as i knew that it wud be very difficult to hold because of certain incidents and strikes in the college.
But many ppl came to me....for organising the Goa trip.I initially ignored the ppl, but ultimately i also went to the princi for it.
As usual he told us to give the names of the student who are interested in Going and Blah...blah....blah.

So all went well and Goa trip was almost cancelled, but suddenly our principal changed....so we had a new hope and again went to him for the trip. This time Sir alloted one lecturer for organising the trip. Now all the lists were made and given to the sir.

Now the problem came with the travel agent....i had heard from the seniors that last time the travel agent has actually overcharged the students and the services were also not very good........the seniors went to Maizon resort in Goa. So i and kunal thought of giving it a try and we asked for quotations from different travel agents. We had quotations from atleast 10 travel agents, all big and reputed firms.

Now when we went to college we came to know that the trip travel agent has been finalized and the charges are 4250 plus the charges of buses that will make it to 4500.

We were just astonished as one of the travel agent we had contacted had quoted a much lower price, infact there was a difference of about 1100 rupees, for the same facilities. So when we went to the lecturer with the details of the quotations that we had received...he just dismissed our quotations on the grounds that this person is a very reputed person and blah blah.


But then also we went a step further for common good and got the quotations faxed to our college.

We actually got two quotataion faxed to our college One from a Travel agent from Delhi
which can be termed as cheap and best it was of 3600 Rs
and other of Rs 4250 It was from an agent from chandigarh, He was in the business from the last 35 years, such was his repute. this was our answer to the college's quatation of 4250 Rs.....it was also charging the same amount but the facilities he was providing were really good..on the Whole it was worth it.

So we told him, that we are redy to talk to the principal or let the college travel agent lower his price.So the matter went in the hands of the society.

Then all went well and at last the quotation of the travel agent that we had refered was selected by the society...and the price was much lower......3600 Rs for the same things.

Now the problem is that some people in the college(u can very well infer who that can be) are accusing us of having some benefit....and our image is being tarnished.......we very well know that this all is done by them as a damage control excercise.....to save their skin

I ask the same question from the ppl who are accusing us......that where were you when the college travel agent was charging Rs 4500 for the same trip.....then who was being given the benefit???

We brought down the prices and now you are accusing us only of deriving the benefit, just in order to save your skin.

Guys this is just a small insight into how difficult it is to cope with the politics and How difficult it is to fight Corruption which is prevalent in our society and even in our college.
